With autumn in full swing and Halloween fast approaching, we’ve listed our favourite Halloween dinner recipes to help you enjoy the festivities. 

Pumpkin soup

Pumpkin carving doesn’t have to mean waste, in fact a delicious pumpkin soup is the perfect way to get the most out of your pumpkins.

Blend pumpkin, squash, chicken, or vegetable stock together with some olive oil, garlic, and finely chopped onions for seasoning, and bring gently to the boil. Add some double cream, continue to heat, and serve.

Guaranteed to help get you into the season, this warming dish is bound to become a firm favourite, bringing together those delicious autumn flavours.

Sausage mummies

This spooky take on sausages is the perfect dish to serve at a Halloween party. The method is fairly simple, you’ll need puff pastry (shop bought or homemade), sausages or chipolatas, flour, 1 egg, chopped black olives.

Start by fully cooking your sausages.

While cooking gently roll out your puff pastry and cut into long vertical strips. Bear in mind you’ll need two strips per sausage.

Follow by wrapping your sausages in the puff pastry to create a mummy in bandages effect.

Once complete, egg wash your pastry with a beaten egg, and add your chopped olives as eyes.

Cook for 20 minutes, until your puff pastry is golden. 200°C/fan 180°C/gas mark 6.

Hearty casserole

This classic has long been a firm favourite as the leaves turn orange and the days get darker.

This ‘hearty’ casserole is a great alternative if you’re not looking to make party food. If you’re staying in this Halloween, why not whip up a classic casserole or stew and have a warm belly as you settle in and put on your favourite scary film.
